ROBERT BRUCE,

Robert the Bruce was King of Scotts from 1306 until his death in 1329. Robert was one of the most famous warriors of his generation, and eventually led Scotish during the First War of Scottish Independence against England. who freed Scotland from English rule, winning the decisive Battle of Bannockburn (1314) and ultimately confirming Scottish independence in the Treaty of Northampton (1328). He fought successfully during his reign to regain Scotland’s place as an independent country and is today revered in Scotland as a national hero.

Robert died on 7 June 1329, at the Manor of Cardross, near Dumbarton. He requested his heart to be taken to the Holy lands, to make up for his sins of not going on a Crusade and the murder of Comyn in a church.
